I cant breath water
I'm saving up.
Peter called me with insight. Endgame is a world of last everythings. So, for example, Hamm' chair (throne?) is that last chair. If a tea cup shatters its the last tea cup ever and now there are no more tea cup. The world is ending and you can't go back. I might even add that! A shattering tea cup-- Boy am I glad beckett isnt alive (hed kill me.) He saw his plays, I think, one way and one way only. He could do that because his way was (is) damn good. But a play is-- not just the playwrights ideas, its what happens when these people act out those ideas. People have done some pretty moronic things with becketts plays. It must have drove him crazy trying to get people to see that they dont need to make perfect cartesian sense of the text in order to understand it.
For each character in the play the truth that matters is their personal truth. So all of the whys why is everything gone? why is there no more pain killer? why cant he sit? are irrelevant. Every game has rules. Our universe has rules for us. I cant breath water-- Clove cant sit. The idea of him sitting doesn't even make any sense.
Than there it is.
