futurebird's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- speakeasy No one can sell liquor in Pittsburgh after 2am so when that hour rolls around the after hours clubs open up. They sell �memberships� and keep an open bar. Peter called me up last night �Let�s go out.� To my surprise, I said �Tes.� So, we made a run for the rave we�d heard about in Oakland. The sidewalk�s wet but there�s no rain. The rave kiddies are out, decked in candy, looking for e. The frat boys are pilled up in the frat-boy-bar, shouting over huddled crows of bare armed co-eds. The police are standing on the corner batting their bobby sticks on their hips and looking for some action. When we get to the door the music�s throbbing and pink light spills out. A bouncer�s like �$30 and a driver�s licence.� �No good.� We think. So, we head downtown to the strip where the bars are closing. We get our �membership� to the new after hours club. Up the narrow dark staircase to the room. The room is all blue and purple and the music is better. The people are intensely beautiful a tall man in a long black coat with white blonde spiky hair curls up on the lap of his girl a full bosomed red head in a dragon print shirt. The bartender explains to Peter that she�s a model and DJ waves to me when he notices that I�ve sort of moving with itch to dance. Soon we do dance and everything else in the world feels a million miles away. I�m having a great time because I feel so �in the know�. I always wanted to hang at a speakeasy.
