new zealand dreams
This is a postcard K sent me from New Zealand
R and I went to Bella Luna tonight. The strike was looming. E (who works at Bella Luna) had a kind of youthful fascination with the whole thing. I think (in a way) New Yorkers enjoy being disrupted from their daily routines. Of course the cost to those of us who (like me) live within walking distance of our work place is not so great: about a hour of walking and in addition to that all of the excitement of having the city in chaos. They stopped the the "clocks" at 3 minutes and 21 seconds to midnight... we all watched in the bar-- I guess in the end I hope that there is no strike-- it will cause chaos. But we'll see what the next day brings. R and me are going to watch K-Pax. I'll deal with the transit strike in the morning!
Also today I got a lovely postcard from K in New Zealand. After looking at the panorama of the New Zealand horizon R and I began to dream of living there some day. I was there when I was 13 or so-- as a ski racer. (we had a big meet on Fox Glacier) I miss it, and long to see the sky there again. If you ever long to see the stars totally naked in the black of space New Zealand is the place for it... But now R is pestering me to watch the film with him so I must go.
