futurebird's Diaryland Diary

red was black

Who would have thought! The story Hamm tells Clove about the painter and engraver is true! Well, it could be. Im reading An Anthropologist on Mars by Oliver Sacks. Its about rare and peculiar mental illnesses. One case tells the story of a color blind painter.

There are lots of colorblind people, but not many of them started life being able to see in color. Mr. I lost his color vision in a car crash. The scary thing is he went on seeing color for more than a day (it was all in his mind he just had not accepted that it was gone) Not until he walked into his studio did he realise that his world had changed in some terrible way. Red was black, blue only a sickly pale color. A red sunrise looked like a black nuclear explosion Only in the dim hours of the night when there was not too much color to see anyway did Mr.I ever feel at home.

Ha!

All hed seen was ashes!
